To Start – Regency Café
There is no better way to start a long day of traveling than with an English breakfast. London has plenty of places to get a great English breakfast but one of the most famous places according to The Culture Trip is the Regency Café on Regency Street. Serving up a giant breakfast the café is the embodiment of Britain. Eagle eyed film fans will also notice that it was used as a set in the Daniel Craig film Layer Cake.
Art – The National Gallery
Art and culture in London has an important history and is part of the city’s heritage. The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square contains over 2,300 paintings dating back to 13th Century. Famous Wonders reports that entrance to the gallery is free of charge and that it houses works from some of the most famous artists in history such as Da Vinci, Van Gogh and Michelangelo. Don’t forget to see the famous Nelson’s Column complete with bronze lions outside the museum.
History – The London Dungeon
London has a long and rich history, and one of the best ways to learn about the darker side of the city is by taking a tour of the London Dungeon. The museum is an interactive experience with actors leading visitors through the macabre history of London and includes such infamous figures as Jack the Ripper. The tour of the Dungeon ends with the visitors being executed by hanging (a chair drop ride).
Sport – The Olympic Stadium
The perfect way to recover from the Dungeon is to learn about London’s sporting legacy. In 2012 London hosted the Olympic Games and the Olympic Stadium was the location of many of the games greatest moments. Visitors can visit the stadium museum and learn about how London put on this great event. The stadium continues its sporting heritage and is the home ground of football team West Ham United. Although the team are currently struggling in the Premier League, they are favorites to beat lowly Sunderland in their upcoming fixture, according to Betfair. The stadium, however, is proving a huge success regardless of West Ham’s recent poor form.
Dinner – Heston’s Dinner
According to experts at food and travel site Truly Experiences, London is the gastronomic center of the world. Many of the world’s biggest chefs have restaurants here. One chef who has come to define modern British cuisine is Heston Blumenthal. His London restaurant Dinner by Heston was listed fifth on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants and its cuisine focuses on historical dishes brought up to date.
To End – The West End
What better way to end a day in London than watching a musical or play at the West End? Whether you are looking for a classic such as Les Miserable or want to discover something new, the West End will have it. Visitors to the city next year will be able to see the sensation that is Hamilton with the BBC reporting that auditions for the play are about to begin.
