Why Should You Visit Southeast Asia?

There are more wonderful things to see and do in the world than most of us can hope to get through in a single lifetime – or even several of them. As such, it’s worth being selective about your choice of destination. But Southeast Asia is a part of the world with many appealing qualities, and it’s worth planning a trip to the region. Let’s take a look at why.

The Diversity

There are dozens of different countries to choose from in Southeast Asia, each with its own unique history, cultures, landscapes and gastronomy. Whatever your tastes, and whatever sort of holiday you’re looking for, the chances are good that you’ll find something to appeal. And, if you’re planning a tour of the wider region, you can be reasonably sure that no two days are going to be quite the same.

The History

There are also plenty of UNESCO World Heritage sites in the region (37 in total, to be precise). From Angkor Wat in Cambodia to Ayutthaya in Thailand, Southeast Asia is incredibly rich in history, and you’ll want to make time for at least a few of these sites during your trip.

Vietnam

An amazingly popular choice, Vietnam has a great deal to offer to tourists. From major urban centres like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to natural wonders like the Cham Islands and the Marble Mountains near Da Nang, you’ll never be short of something to do in Vietnam. You’ll find plenty of Vietnam tours that take the hard work out of getting around the country – allowing you to focus on enjoying the experience.

Thailand

Thailand, and its capital Bangkok, have long been a draw for Brits, thanks to the local combination of tropical sandy beaches, amazing temples, and legendary cuisine. Ideally, you’ll want to time your visit so that you avoid the worst of the wet season. This typically means heading over during British winter and spring.

Value for money

Southeast Asia represents incredible value for money. This is even after you’ve considered the admittedly very high cost of actually flying to the region. Your money will tend to go much further in this part of the world than it would in Europe or the United States, with luxury dining options and magnificent hotels all available for a fraction of the cost of the equivalent experience closer to the UK. Look for airlines flying to Southeast Asia and start planning for your trip.
