Where to find the most scenic views in South Africa

Known as the ‘Rainbow Nation’, South Africa truly is a spectacle of diversity in all capacities. Home to a treasure trove of landscapes, including deserts, forests, mountains, beaches, cities and savannas, there is so much breathtaking scenery to explore. And with so many opportunities to get close to incredible species of wildlife such as whales and the Big Five in their natural, unspoiled habitats, both nature lovers and view-chasers alike are promised an unforgettable trip. Whether you choose to climb the mountains of Drakensberg or take a cultural tour of Johannesburg, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to filling your itinerary.

Here, we explore where to find the most scenic views in South Africa.

The Blyde River Canyon

Most who head northeast from Johannesburg are headed for the iconic Kruger National Park, but just below it is an enchanting canyon of emerald green that is well worth a visit. Teeming with primates, hippos, crocodiles and birdlife, this 29,000-hectare nature reserve is lush with jungle-esque foliage, lazy rivers and hidden waterfalls. The gorge itself is an impressive 16 miles long and 2,600 feet deep, so be sure to allocate yourself enough time to properly explore here.

As the proud heart of the scenic ‘Panorama Route’, you can access several awe-inspiring viewing points throughout the canyon. Whilst you could drive along the dusty roads through this vast natural haven, we would strongly recommend you don your hiking boots and climb through the dense rainforest canopy to the cliff edges, where you’ll be blessed with stunning vistas of the Three Rondavels, Pinnacle Rock and God’s Window.

De Hoop Nature Reserve

The De Hoop Nature Reserve is a sanctuary of natural beauty, and it’s a brilliant place to see some of the most loved animals of South Africa – elephants. At the southernmost tip of Africa, this area is a haven for biodiversity, providing refuge for many endemic plant species that thrive in the diverse landscape found here. From the underwater world beyond the pristine beaches to the wetlands and fynbos inland, there’s a rich tapestry of ecosystems found in De Hoop that also supports over 260 bird species as well as other animals and marine life.

Despite being a protected marine area, you can responsibly snorkel, dive or enjoy a boat tour out onto the surrounding waters to marvel at dolphins, whales and tropical fish that call De Hoop home. And whether you’re an adrenaline junkie or a leisurely scenery-seeker, you can enjoy everything from hiking to mountain biking in the reserve.

Addo Elephant National Park

If you have ‘spotting the Big Five’ on your to-do list whilst in South Africa, why not up the ante to the Big Seven? Addo Elephant National Park is not only home to elephants, rhinoceroses, buffalo, leopards and lions, but also the Great White Shark and the Southern Right Whale. Set out on the Indian Ocean to find dolphins playing in the wake of your boat, or test your nerves and dive in to experience some exhilarating shark cage diving.

If you don’t feel like braving the waters, there are several ways to immerse yourself in the stunning scenery of Addo. Book a guided game drive to get close to the animals whilst exploring the unspoilt African wilderness, or paddle a canoe through the wetlands to soak up the sun at a slower pace.

Where poaching remains an ongoing issue in many parts of the world, Addo’s conservation efforts are commendable. The park runs ongoing initiatives to protect the region's endangered species and preserve the balance of its ecosystems. Always remember to explore responsibly, to support the longevity of these wonderful natural landscapes.

Wherever you turn in South Africa, you’ll be immersed in rich, panoramic scenery and surrounded by incredible wildlife. Whether you’re a wildlife enthusiast or seeking a soulful escape into the wilderness, the memories of these extensive and mesmerizing landscapes are sure to leave you longing to return to this land of untamed beauty.

Should You Sell Your Home to Travel the World?

In a world where experiences often outweigh possessions, the idea that you can sell your home to travel the world has gained notable traction. This growing trend reflects a shift in priorities, where individuals are opting for the richness of life's experiences over the permanence of material possessions. If you need some help in making the right decision, you are in the right place since we will delve into the pros and cons of this life-changing decision. Join us as we explore the financial freedom selling your home may offer and the emotional considerations that accompany such a significant change.

The Pros of Selling Your Home for Travel

Selling your home to fund travel can unlock a significant financial windfall, offering a substantial boost to your budget. The proceeds from the sale can serve as a practical means to finance an extended period of travel, allowing you to explore new destinations and immerse yourself in diverse cultures. Beyond the financial gains, this decision presents an opportunity to declutter and simplify your life, shedding the weight of material possessions and embracing a more minimalist lifestyle. Anyone who has been traveling for an extended time knows that you can’t bring everything with you. Being on the road necessitates reevaluating what is really important for you and what you can do without. This practical approach funds your adventures and allows for a more intentional and liberating lifestyle while you are exploring the world.

You should also consider the financial freedom that selling your home can provide. On our travels, we’ve met many people who had enough of stationary living and opted for a nomadic lifestyle. You can even purchase a campervan and call the road your home. With the proceeds that come from selling your real estate, you can embark on a journey and immerse yourself in enriching experiences that resonate with the essence of travel.

Selling your property is the ultimate way to declutter.

The Emotional Considerations

Leaving behind a home is not merely a logistical challenge; it's a huge emotional decision involving detaching from a place with memories and sentimental value. We have always tried to bring at least part of our travel back home with us, and we have decorated our home to reflect this. However, recognizing and addressing your emotional attachments to your home is crucial. Many individuals form deep connections with their houses, and contemplating a sale may stir sentiments of nostalgia and attachment. Acknowledging these emotions and assessing your readiness for such a significant change is essential.

Moreover, thinking about the decision to sell your home to travel the world demands a candid exploration of potential regrets. While the prospect of new adventures beckons, there's a chance that selling your home could lead to remorse down the line. Evaluating this possibility beforehand can help you make a more informed choice, considering the long-term implications on your emotional well-being. Additionally, consider the impact on personal relationships. Selling your home may alter your living situation and affect your connections with family and friends. It's crucial to communicate openly about your decision, gauging their perspectives and addressing concerns to maintain healthy relationships.

In contemplating the sale of your home, it's equally important to ponder the value of having a stable home base. While travel brings exhilarating experiences, having a place to return to provides a sense of security and familiarity. This stable foundation can anchor you amid the uncertainties of life on the road. Before deciding to sell, weigh the emotional significance of a home base and consider whether having a familiar place to return to is integral to your sense of well-being.

are you ready to embrace the nomadic lifestyle?

Financial Risks and Challenges if You Decide to Sell Your Home to Travel the World

Before taking the leap into selling your home for travel, it's crucial to acknowledge the potential financial risks accompanying such a decision. Market fluctuations can be a huge stressor for anyone. Sudden changes in the real estate scene can impact the selling price of your property and directly influence your travel plans. Understanding how economic conditions can influence real estate values will help you make an informed decision about the timing of your sale. Research the current market trends and consult with real estate professionals to gauge the optimal time to sell, ensuring you maximize the return on your investment.

Beyond the initial financial gain, consider the challenges of re-entering the housing market after a prolonged period of travel. The real estate landscape may evolve during your absence, presenting hurdles when you decide to settle back down. It is entirely possible that you get priced out by property appreciation, making it impossible to purchase another home in your old area. However, you can follow in the footsteps of many expats and settle down in a country like Turkey. The cost of living there is much cheaper than what many expect, and you will easily be able to afford real estate after selling your home.

Therefore, you should assess the potential changes in property prices, mortgage rates, and overall market dynamics to prepare for the intricacies of re-entering the housing market. Additionally, anticipate unforeseen expenses that may arise during your travels. Whether it's unexpected medical costs or a change in travel plans, having a contingency fund will provide financial security, minimizing the impact of unforeseen circumstances on your long-term travel plans.

Consider renting out your home so you can have a place to return to.

Alternative Options to Selling

If the idea of selling your home feels too drastic, there are alternative avenues to fund your long-term travel goals. One viable option is to explore the potential of renting out your property. By converting your home into a rental, you generate a steady stream of income that can contribute to your travel fund. However, if you want to go down this road, you will also need to find some solution for your belongings. We suggest reaching out to a moving and storage service like miraclemovers.com. They can offer long-term storage for your furniture and other possessions, letting you declutter your home before renting it out. Ensure thorough research on rental market conditions in your area and familiarize yourself with landlord responsibilities before embarking on this route.

Another practical approach is to leverage your property as a source of passive income. Investigate ways to create passive income streams, such as investing in dividend stocks, real estate crowdfunding, or utilizing other investment vehicles. This can provide financial support for your travels without the need to part ways with your home. Additionally, consider the possibility of downsizing to a smaller property while retaining a home base. This allows you to maintain the stability of a familiar environment while still indulging your wanderlust.

Closing Thoughts

Many people dream of taking the big leap, but only you know if you have the courage to sell your home to travel the world. The potential for financial freedom, emotional considerations, and various challenges and alternatives all play critical roles in shaping this significant life decision. Every individual's situation is unique, and there's no one-size-fits-all answer. You will need to weigh the pros and cons against your own aspirations and commitments. How much do you love the road and travel versus having a permanent place to call home? We hope this blog post gave you some relevant points to research and think about so you can make an informed decision.

Why Should You Visit Southeast Asia?

There are more wonderful things to see and do in the world than most of us can hope to get through in a single lifetime – or even several of them. As such, it’s worth being selective about your choice of destination. But Southeast Asia is a part of the world with many appealing qualities, and it’s worth planning a trip to the region. Let’s take a look at why.

The Diversity

There are dozens of different countries to choose from in Southeast Asia, each with its own unique history, cultures, landscapes and gastronomy. Whatever your tastes, and whatever sort of holiday you’re looking for, the chances are good that you’ll find something to appeal. And, if you’re planning a tour of the wider region, you can be reasonably sure that no two days are going to be quite the same.

The History

There are also plenty of UNESCO World Heritage sites in the region (37 in total, to be precise). From Angkor Wat in Cambodia to Ayutthaya in Thailand, Southeast Asia is incredibly rich in history, and you’ll want to make time for at least a few of these sites during your trip.

Vietnam

An amazingly popular choice, Vietnam has a great deal to offer to tourists. From major urban centres like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to natural wonders like the Cham Islands and the Marble Mountains near Da Nang, you’ll never be short of something to do in Vietnam. You’ll find plenty of Vietnam tours that take the hard work out of getting around the country – allowing you to focus on enjoying the experience.

Thailand

Thailand, and its capital Bangkok, have long been a draw for Brits, thanks to the local combination of tropical sandy beaches, amazing temples, and legendary cuisine. Ideally, you’ll want to time your visit so that you avoid the worst of the wet season. This typically means heading over during British winter and spring.

Value for money

Southeast Asia represents incredible value for money. This is even after you’ve considered the admittedly very high cost of actually flying to the region. Your money will tend to go much further in this part of the world than it would in Europe or the United States, with luxury dining options and magnificent hotels all available for a fraction of the cost of the equivalent experience closer to the UK. Look for airlines flying to Southeast Asia and start planning for your trip.

Visiting Singapore's Most Famous Green Spaces

Singapore is known to most visitors as a futuristic city, frequently celebrated for its impressive skyline and state-of-the-art infrastructure. What surprises many travellers, however, is that the nation also prides itself on being the "Garden City." This moniker, earned over decades, reflects Singapore's commitment to integrating lush green spaces into its urban environment. Amidst the towering buildings, patches of verdant landscape offer solace, tranquillity, and a hint of wilderness.

For the modern traveller, these pockets of green provide a refreshing contrast to the city's hustle. The experience of wandering through these green corners is often enhanced by the top-notch digital connectivity that’s typical of a technologically-driven city like Singapore. Whether it's geo-tagging a unique spot in a park, instantly sharing photos of a rare bird, or simply using maps for navigation, reliable postpaid mobile plans ensure that Singapore's green marvels are just a touch away.

Here's an in-depth look at five of the Garden City’s must-visit green spaces:

Gardens by the Bay

One of Singapore's most iconic landmarks, Gardens by the Bay, offers a unique fusion of nature's wonders and human ingenuity. Spanning 101 hectares, this green jewel is nestled in the heart of the city, offering a slice of paradise amidst urban surroundings. The Flower Dome, the world's largest glass greenhouse, is home to plants from five continents, showcasing the marvels of nature from semi-arid regions to the Mediterranean.

But it's not just about static displays. The Cloud Forest beckons with its mist-filled ambiance, where one can explore the botanical wonders of the tropical highlands. A towering waterfall welcomes visitors, creating a microcosm of the humid and cool montane ecosystem. And as evening descends, the magic only grows. The Supertree Grove, a collection of vertical gardens resembling towering trees, becomes a spectacle of light and sound. This mesmerising light show brings a futuristic touch to the garden, blending nature and technology seamlessly.

Fort Canning Park

History and nature intertwine gracefully at Fort Canning Park, a hilltop green space that has overseen Singapore’s transformation from a fishing village to a bustling city-state. The park is not just a green haven; it's a tapestry of Singapore’s historical milestones, bearing witness to significant events from the time of the Malay Kingdoms to World War II.

Strolling through Fort Canning, one can find ancient artefacts, remnants of old fortifications, and sites that echo with tales of yesteryears. The Spice Garden, a throwback to the island's history, pays homage to the once-thriving spice trade. Amid these historical whispers, the park also resonates with contemporary rhythms. Fort Canning also functions as a cultural hub, playing host to events like theatre productions and outdoor concerts. The experiences it offers visitors blend history, art, and nature harmoniously.

East Coast Park

Spanning a 15-kilometre coastline, East Coast Park stands as Singapore's largest and most cherished coastal park. Its allure lies not just in its vastness, but in the myriad of experiences it offers. Gently swaying palm trees line the coastal stretch, their shadows dancing on well-laid cycling and jogging tracks. Families, both local and foreign, often flock here, setting up picnics and barbecues against the backdrop of ships anchored in the distance.

Water sports enthusiasts aren't left wanting either. The park's shoreline buzzes with myriad activities, from windsurfing to beach volleyball. Children can be spotted building sandcastles, their laughter mixing with the rhythmic sound of the waves.

But East Coast Park isn’t just about physical activity. Several dining establishments dot the area, allowing visitors to indulge in scrumptious seafood while enjoying seafront views. As the sun dips below the horizon, the park transforms, with the soothing sounds of the sea providing a serene ambiance as it becomes an ideal location for introspective walks or tranquil moments.

The Southern Ridges

The Southern Ridges isn’t just a trail. It’s an experience that connects nature with state-of-the-art architecture, promising unforgettable panoramic views. Weaving through five major parks and nature areas, this 10-kilometre stretch presents a unique walking experience. Visitors get to immerse themselves in the serenity of nature while never straying far from the urban environment. The undulating terrains, lush greenery, and occasional chirping of birds remind visitors of the rich biodiversity Singapore nurtures within its city limits.

Arguably, the crown jewel of this trail is the Henderson Waves bridge. As Singapore’s highest pedestrian bridge, its unique design mimics the undulating shape of waves. Made with slats of yellow balau wood, the bridge is both an architectural marvel and a vantage point that offers unparalleled views of the city, the sea, and the vast green expanses. As one traverses through The Southern Ridges, from the verdant Mount Faber Park to the tranquil Labrador Nature Reserve, the seamless blend of natural and man-made structures stands as a testament to Singapore's commitment to harmonious urban development.

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve

A green beacon amidst the urban landscape, Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is Singapore’s premier haven for biodiversity. Home to more than 40% of the nation's native flora and fauna, this reserve is a living testament to the island’s rich ecological heritage. As one embarks on the trails, the cacophony of the city fades, replaced by the symphony of rustling leaves, chirping birds, and distant calls of native wildlife.

At the heart of the reserve stands Bukit Timah Hill, Singapore’s highest natural point. Climbing to its summit is a rite of passage for many nature enthusiasts, offering panoramic views of the surrounding green canopy. The reserve also provides copious educational resources and experiences for nature lovers seeking to know more about Singapore’s wildlife. Information boards dot the paths, enlightening visitors about the significance of various species and ecosystems, as well as the different guided walking tours that are also available.

In the bustling heart of Singapore, these green sanctuaries stand as testament to the nation's dedication to preserving nature amidst urbanisation. As visitors traverse these spaces, they not only witness the harmony between development and ecology but are also reminded of the timeless value of green retreats in a fast-paced world.

Discover the Awesome and Memorizing Antoni Gaudí's Barcelona Architecture

Discover the Awesome and Memorizing Antoni Gaudí's Barcelona Architecture

Barcelona, the bustling capital of Catalonia, Spain, is a city steeped in history, culture, and art. Among its many treasures, the architectural masterpieces created by the renowned Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí stand out as awe-inspiring testaments to creativity and innovation.

Gaudí's unique style has left an indelible mark on the city's landscape, making Barcelona a must-visit destination for architecture enthusiasts and travelers alike. In this blog post, we will delve into the life and works of this architectural genius, focusing on three of his most iconic creations:

•          The Sagrada Familia

•          Casa Batlló,

•          La Pedrera

Prepare to be amazed and inspired as we explore Gaudí's genius and his profound impact on modern architecture.

The Life and Vision of Antoni Gaudí

Antoni Gaudí i Cornet was born on June 25, 1852, in Reus, a small town in Catalonia, Spain. From an early age, Gaudí displayed a deep love for nature and a keen interest in art, which would later influence his architectural designs. He studied architecture at the Barcelona Higher School of Architecture and quickly established himself as a talented and innovative architect.

Gaudí's work was characterized by his exceptional ability to blend art, architecture, and nature seamlessly. Inspired by the organic forms found in nature, Gaudí developed a unique architectural language that defied convention and celebrated the beauty of the natural world. His designs often incorporated elements such as curves, asymmetry, and intricate ornamentation, making his buildings stand out as true works of art.

Sagrada Familia: A Cathedral of Unfinished Grandeur

Perhaps Gaudí's most famous and enduring masterpiece is the Sagrada Familia, a grand basilica that has become the symbol of Barcelona itself. Construction on the Sagrada Familia began in 1882, and Gaudí took over the project a year later, dedicating the rest of his life to its completion. At the time of his death in 1926, the basilica was far from finished, but Gaudí's vision and plans continue to guide the ongoing construction.

The Sagrada Familia's design is a harmonious fusion of various architectural styles, including Gothic, Art Nouveau, and modernism. Gaudí sought to create a building that represented the glory of God and the beauty of the natural world. The basilica's soaring spires, each representing a different religious figure, reach toward the heavens, and its facades tell stories from the Bible through intricately sculpted scenes.

The interior of the Sagrada Familia is a breathtaking symphony of light and color. The towering columns seem like majestic trees, branching out to support the intricate stone canopy. Stained glass windows fill the space with a kaleidoscope of colors, casting an ethereal glow upon the stone surfaces. The Sagrada Familia remains a work in progress to this day, with an estimated completion date in the near future, but its magnificence and significance as an architectural marvel are undeniable.

Casa Batlló: A Whimsical House of Dreams

Located on the elegant Passeig de Gràcia, Casa Batlló is another gem in Gaudí's architectural crown. Commissioned by Josep Batlló, a wealthy textile manufacturer, Gaudí was tasked with renovating the existing building in 1904. True to his visionary approach, Gaudí transformed the structure into a fantastical and whimsical residence that defies conventional design.

Casa Batlló's facade is a captivating display of colors, shapes, and textures. The undulating lines and colorful mosaic tiles create an illusion of motion and life, resembling an underwater world or a mystical dragon. The balconies, with their distinctive bone-like appearance, are said to symbolize the dragon's jaws, earning the building its nickname, the "House of Bones."

Inside Casa Batlló, visitors are treated to a sensory feast of artistry and ingenuity. The central lightwell, adorned with a stunning blue-toned skylight, illuminates the interior, creating a magical ambiance. The organic curves and innovative use of space make every room a work of art, reflecting Gaudí's deep appreciation for nature and its infinite beauty.

La Pedrera: An Enchanting Urban Treasure

Casa Milà, known as La Pedrera, is Gaudí's final masterpiece featured in this trio of architectural gems. Constructed between 1906 and 1912, La Pedrera is a residential building that showcases Gaudí's signature organic architectural style. Commissioned by Pere Milà i Camps and his wife Roser Segimon, the building stands as a testament to Gaudí's ability to merge functionality and artistry.

La Pedrera's facade is a fascinating interplay of light and shadow, with large stone blocks creating a wavy, undulating surface that appears almost alive. The building's rooftop is a true delight, featuring a sculptural landscape of whimsical chimneys and ventilation towers that resemble medieval knights, adding a touch of playfulness to the urban Barcelona landscape.

Inside La Pedrera, Gaudí's creativity comes to life through innovative design elements such as curved walls and unique layouts. The attic houses an exhibition dedicated to Gaudí's architectural genius, providing visitors with insight into the creative process behind La Pedrera's design.

Visiting Barcelona

Barcelona, as the city that gave rise to Gaudí's extraordinary legacy, offers visitors a unique and enriching experience. The city's vibrant culture, rich history, and warm hospitality create a welcoming environment for travelers from all walks of life. Barcelona's allure extends beyond Gaudí's masterpieces, encompassing charming neighborhoods, world-class cuisine, and stunning Mediterranean beaches. Visit as soon as you can.

Experiencing ‘Secret Italy’: Unsung Locations and How to Visit Them

Travelling to Italy is no new thing; hundreds of thousands of us make the trip each year, to enjoy the delights of its beautiful coasts and thriving urban centres. But Italy’s tourist experience is not necessarily a reflection of what Italy really has to offer. There is a ‘secret Italy’, behind the cafes and pizzerias, that shows something of its true cultural character. Where is it?

Where is ‘Secret Italy’?

Orvieto, Umbria

Orvieto is, quite literally, a volcano city. It is a city built on volcanic material, that has existed since the Etruscan times and remains a relatively unsung tourist location. Italy tours that step off the beaten track take in Orvieto as a stunning example of Etruscan history, and a vital part of papal history in Italy as well. Its architecture reflects the needs of popes long past, and includes oddities such as the hidden tunnels that weave through the city – relics from the days of siege warfare.

Orvieto

Civita di Bagnoregio, Lazio

Civita di Bagnoregio is a small town in Lazio, that can be found in the Province of Viterbo. It is not only a small town with a miniscule population, but also one that is destined for ruin; built on weak volcanic tuff, its foundations have been eroding over time – leading to its colloquial name ‘The Dying City’. This city is a difficult journey to reach, but visitors are rewarded with provincial architecture and incredible views.

Turin, Piedmont

Turin is one of Italy’s open secrets, being a city with its own footprint in global history. It is the capital of Piedmont, and a continental capital of culture to many that observe its monuments, artworks and artefacts. Turin is home to fantastic food, as well as culturally significant historical items such as the Shroud of Turiin.

Turin

Experiencing Secret Italy

Just as Secret Italy cannot be bounded to one specific place, neither can it be bound geography alone. Enjoying Italy on its own terms is just as much about meeting it attitudinally as it is visiting physically. In essence, the less like a tourist you behave, the more authentic an experience you might find yourself having. But what does this mean?

For one, it means learning a little of the language – ideally, enough to comfortably engage in idle or transactional conversation. Not everyone will speak your language, and your attempts to speak theirs will engender kinder responses.

Speaking of which, notions of politeness differ in Italy, especially to the relatively fusty sensitivities of the British. Where we are prone to queuing, there is no such proclivity in Italy. Don’t be afraid to get stuck in when you know what you want.

There are also some quintessential social qualities you should understand – namely, ‘campanilismo’ and ‘fare la bella figura’. The former refers to the regional identity that locals form with respect to their home, a kind of regional patriotism that informs values. The latter translates to ‘make a beautiful figure’, which goes to the essence of enjoying Italy as it is; the better an impression you make, the better you will be received.

3 Reasons You Should Consider Living in Turkey as an Expat

People often visit Turkey on holiday to explore its amazing culture, relax in its many luxurious resorts, and bask in the authentic Mediterranean dream. But have you ever thought about what it would be like if your life was like this constantly? Here are three reasons you should consider moving to Turkey to live as an expat, and experience a year-long summer holiday…

1.     The cost of living is cheaper

Compared to the UK, rental costs in Turkey are up to 75% cheaper. The country also provides rights to foreigners like citizenships and residencies, meaning moving to the country doesn’t have to be difficult - or expensive. While the cost of living is generally cheaper in Turkey than in the UK, if you do want to buy in the country, we recommended heading out to explore your real estate options beforehand; if it’s your first time travelling to Turkey, an antalya airport transfer will ensure your visit goes as seamlessly as possible.

2.     There are a wide variety of incredible cities

With 81 cities to choose from, you won’t have a hard time finding somewhere to settle down in Turkey. Some of the most popular Turkish cities include:

Istanbul: Great for those looking to build a career in finance, Istanbul is one of the world’s major economic centres. The city is located on the shores of the Bosphorus Strait, meaning the climate is also known for being consistently warm - perfect for Brits abroad!

Ankara: The capital of Turkey, Ankara is full to the brim with Turkish history. It’s a bustling place home to the country’s largest museum, as well as the ancient citadel district where you can dig deep into Turkey’s past.

Antalya: If you want to live near the country’s spectacular Turquoise Coast (sometimes known as the Turkish Riviera), Antalya is the place for you. Antalya is Turkey’s fastest-growing city and offers expats a fantastic mix of beach life and urban charm. What’s not to love?

3.     The people are super friendly

The Turks are known as some of the friendliest and most genuinely hospitable people in the world. Just one visit to a store and you’ll be inundated with free samples (and endless conversation from the shop owners!) While a lot of Turkey speaks English, learning some basic Turkish means you’ll be able to immerse yourself even more into the culture - and meet even more incredibly friendly people!

With a cheaper cost of living rate, a host of great and vibrant destinations, and a warm welcome just waiting for you at the border, there’s no wonder expat interest in Turkey is increasing! And these three reasons are just the beginning, find out even more reasons why the country is great for Brits abroad by first taking a holiday… then coming back for more.

If you want to share your experiences and inspire others, you might want to consider starting a travel blog. Having a blog can make you connect with others while it’s also a great creative outlet. If you create a successful blog, you might even earn some money and sponsor deals for your travels. If you think this sounds interesting, you can check out a few tips on how to create a successful travel blog here.

1. Find a niche

It’s always a good idea to be specific about what your travel blog is about. Therefore you should have your own niche. This will make it easier to stand out from the rest and target a specific group of readers. A niche can be anything really. Maybe you like to travel the world volunteering or you travel specifically in Southeast Asia. Maybe you’re writing about solo traveling or how to bring your kids on your travels. Pick one and make your blog all about your niche.

2. Get yourself a catchy name

It’s important that you make sure to name your blog something catchy. Your name is the first thing that should attract the attention of potential readers. It can also be a good idea to be descriptive in your choice of name. It will make it easier for readers to understand what your blog is all about. If you’re having trouble coming up with the perfect name for your blog, you can use a blog name generator. It will generate a bunch of name suggestions based on the keywords that you put into it.

3. Use social media

One of the easiest ways to make your blog known to new readers is to make use of social media. These platforms are great tools to use to market your blog. You can engage with your readers and get to know them much easier than anywhere else. Your social media platforms should be an extension of your blog, so focus on the same topics as your blog. If you share content that is about all kinds of things, it might scare away readers who want to read about travel.

4. Work on SEO

Another way to gain new readers is organic traffic to your website. To gain this, you should consider working with SEO. It means that you should optimize your content so it will achieve high rankings in the search engines. This will make it easy for new readers to find you when they’re searching for something related to your travel niche. Read up on how to work with SEO and make a habit of implementing it in all your content.

Going on a Weekend Getaway? An Expert Guide for Packing Right

It is not surprising to find people planning a weekend trip after long work hours from Mondays through Fridays. These trips are mainly designed to relieve stress, visit new destinations, taste different recipes, experience new climates, and have fun. A weekend getaway is typically between 1-3 days, so there are some limitations on how the travel itinerary should look, which also influences what you pack for the trip.

For an awesome trip, you must include some items on your packing list. When preparing your list, it is recommended to put factors like the weather, the accommodation type, quality of internet reception, emergencies, and flight-related issues in mind to aid a stress-free movement to and from. For a seamless experience, you can subscribe to travel plans such as the Delta Sky Priority program.

This simple but concise guide will take you through how to pack well for a weekend getaway for an amazing experience.

Research on Your Destination

Most likely, your weekend getaway destination is somewhere you haven't visited before. In such cases, there is a great need to read thoroughly about the place. Your research can begin with what the destination is like, their weather condition at the time, time zone, exciting spots, and restricted areas. With this information, you can be assured of enjoying your stay without issues.

Make a List

Making a weekend trip list is essential to cover all grounds. A packing list comes with numerous advantages for travellers. It will be helpful to make a list of items to be packed so the ones at the top list of essentials are acquired before others. Secondly, it limits the chances of a traveller forgetting anything, as a final check is done based on the items packed and those left on the travel list.

Pick the Appropriate Travel Bag

When travelling, choosing the right travelling box or bag to suit the occasion is ideal. Usually, certain individuals designate a bag for their travel purposes only, and we recommend this action for future reference.

Getting a travel-only assigned bag comes with its perks and remains an effective tip to pack right. So, it becomes much easier to plan what items can fit into your bag, the arrangement style, and a means of conveying the entire items.

Pack in Categories

This tip refers to the arrangement of items you want to carry on your trip. Some items could be fragile; some could be gadgets you have to keep handy; others, your regular clothes, and accessories. Stuffing everything at once is not the right way to pack, and you could end up damaging valuables or get stuck while trying to find a single item in the bag. Keep items you need within reach and protect fragile materials in a different package bag.

Choose Makeshift and Disposable Items

Some of the items we take on our trip may not come back with us. They could be cans of food, drinks, or equipment for one-time use. These mobile and disposable kinds of materials are quite recommended for weekend trips.

This is because they are short-term trips, and you wouldn't want to travel both ways heavily. An example of cases where makeshift items come in handy is, instead of carrying a ceramic cup, you could make do with a disposable one for easy riddance.

Conclusion

Weekend trips are fun with quality planning, good knowledge of your destination, and the right luggage packed. From putting in warm clothes for the weather to carrying disposable items and a handy first-aid kit, packing right does everything for you to enjoy a pleasant getaway experience. Have a safe trip!

5 Paradises That Are Currently Open for Travel

Traveling to foreign countries and especially to all-inclusive resorts is one of the greatest pleasures of life. Unfortunately, it is something that people have been missing out on since worldwide travel restrictions took place nearly two years ago due to COVID-19.

Fortunately, the world is beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel, as several hot spots are now reopening their borders to delight travelers with breathtaking natural attractions. Thanks to easing restrictions in some parts of the world, a well-deserved vacation that everyone needs is possible again.

If you’re looking for a paradise where you can take a much-needed break, then dust off your passport, pack your bags, and choose from this list of stunning getaways that offer outstanding natural beauty, pristine beaches, and more.

Tulum

Tulum is one of the most famous parts of the Mexican Caribbean, and it’s just a couple of hours from Cancun International Airport.

Tulum has been trending for many years now in the international jet-setting world. It offers white sandy beaches, turquoise-colored waters, and luxury boutique hotels. And unlike Cancun, Tulum has focused heavily on maintaining a low-key, natural ambiance. You won’t find towering hotel buildings and massive shopping malls there.

Aside from offering stunning views and gorgeous beaches, you can also find a range of archeological sightseeing adventures. Tulum has several Mayan archeological sites close by and beautiful cenotes (freshwater sinkholes) in the middle of the rainforest. Here, you can cool down with a swim after a day of sightseeing under the hot Mexican sun.

Curaçao

This breathtaking island is perhaps one of the best places that you can find in the Southern Caribbean Sea. Although small in size, it offers an impressive array of natural beauty and fun activities. And it’s open to tourists! You will need a negative PCR COVID-19 test from an accredited laboratory taken 48 hours before departure. After that is taken care of, you will be free to relax, whether you choose to explore the island or enjoy one of the all-inclusive resorts in Curaçao.

Far away from the busy Mexican beaches that attract young social media personalities by the millions, Curaçao attracts more selective tourists looking for luxury, beauty, and a less crowded environment. Plus, it’s a low-risk COVID-19 region, which means that you’ll be safer and can enjoy yourself with peace of mind.

With its vibrant culture and atmosphere, Curaçao is the perfect getaway for those seeking adventure, relaxation, nature, and luxury. Many people enjoy snorkeling in the warm ocean water while admiring the expansive underwater ecosystems. Others spend their time exploring the picturesque towns that are every inch what you would expect from a Caribbean getaway with bright colors and exquisite cuisine.

Suppose you have a real taste for quality. In that case, you can find perfect Curaçao resorts with all the upscale and luxury amenities to make your vacation the perfect getaway.

Hawaii

What would this list be if it didn’t mention the famous beaches of Hawaii?

Hawaii has long been known as a top destination for ocean lovers. Whether you enjoy a peaceful swim in pristine waters or giant, adrenaline-inducing waves to jump on with a surfboard, Hawaii has a beach for every purpose.

If you want to look further afield than the pristine beaches, Hawaii provides visitors with tours of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. If you are interested in heights, there are also hiking trips to the top of Haleakala National Park, where you can take in a view from over 10,000 feet high. Visitors can also visit the Pearl Harbor National Memorial and the aviation museum.

To enter, you’ll need a COVID vaccination card and a negative COVID-19 NAAT or antigen test result.

Thailand

This beautiful country with Hollywood-famous beaches has recently relaxed its entry restrictions, opening its borders to vaccinated travelers. However, you will need proof of travel health insurance and a mandatory negative COVID-19 PCR test.

Thailand is known for its wide variety of tropical beaches and breathtaking landscapes, making it a trendy spot for tourists for many decades. Explore ancient Khmer castles and ruins, go island hopping along some of the most beautiful coastal areas in the world, visit UNESCO-listed parks, or stop in at any of the local markets to try the food before experiencing the vibrant nightlife.

The Maldives

If you feel like heading to the Indian Ocean, you will find a small archipelago nation called the Republic of the Maldives, more commonly known as the Maldives.

Famed for its picture-perfect landscapes, the Maldives have been known to have dream-like beaches that stun visitors.

White sandy beaches, crystal-clear water, lush vegetation, and colorful aquatic biodiversity make this the perfect holiday location for anyone who wants to relax.

The Maldives opened its borders for travelers in July 2020, although some restrictions may apply to visitors from certain countries. For most travelers, you will need to have a negative COVID PCR test before arrival into the country, taken no longer than 96 hours before departure.

COVID-19 shocked the world and caused most countries to shut their borders, putting a pause on international tourism. After more than 2 years of pandemic lockdowns and canceled travel plans, it seems that the world can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.

As more countries open back up, the best thing you can do is pack your bags, choose your favorite destination, get any required COVID testing done, and soak up the sights in one of the best places in the world.

Campervanning in Europe: All You Need to Know

Campervanning in Europe: All You Need to Know

We have had a campervan for almost a year. And have traveled from one end of Europe to the other and visited many countries. We have been to 11 countries, including three national parks, mountains, and beaches, as well as two music festivals.

We made some rookie mistakes on our first trip as we had very little knowledge. We had a lot of fun with our foolishness and learned how to travel Europe in a campervan like professionals. In the beginning, I couldn't find much information online about how to travel Europe in a campervan because the majority of websites were focused on traveling in one and not living in it.

Before we get into the details of how to travel Europe in a campervan, we want to talk about a few things that will help you decide if van life is right for you.

Why should you consider traveling Europe by campervan?

You probably know what a typical Euro Trip for a first-timer looks like. You will see a little of Paris, Amsterdam, and Venice. Also, you'll find out about London, Rome, Venice, and London. Berlin, Vienna, and Zurich. Budapest is all accessible by train and bus. These are the most expensive European destinations. Train travel is also rather expensive in Europe, particularly in Western Europe.

If you are already on this page, I am sure that you are looking for something new. Perhaps you are looking for places to visit in Europe that aren't easy to reach by train or bus.

Camper trailer travels around Europe is a great way to explore the continent. There are no hidden costs or connections, as well as schedules and travel times. This makes it possible to make your schedule flexible, which opens up a whole new world of possibilities.

Because of its easy border crossing, Europe is one of the most popular continents for road trips. You can drive from Belgium to Germany, France, Luxembourg, or the Netherlands in a matter of 2-4 hours. There are no checkpoints, so you won't even know you've crossed any borders.

The following points sum up why camping in Europe is so great.

  • Transport by public transport is expensive

  • It is super easy to cross the border

  • Flexible itinerary

  • Access to small towns, natural sites, and other offbeat areas

Camper van vs. Normal Van vs. Caravan

These terms are often used interchangeably, but they don't always mean the same thing. Although we all know what a van looks like, let me explain what a camper van looks like.

Campervans are vans that are specifically designed for camping and have a sleeping area inside. A van can be converted into a campervan. A campervan should have a place to sleep and a place to cook. Some campervans have inside toilets.

The caravan has all the same inside, or more, but is not a campervan. A caravan is a wagon that you attach to your car and drive. Without a car to tow it, you can't drive a caravan.

Which type of van do you need?

A small pop-up camper is the best option for couples who love adventure and are on a tight budget. You will be able to use smaller lanes because you have a smaller vehicle. A smaller van will also be cheaper to park, camp, and toll.

If you have more than one child, it is a good idea to buy a larger campervan. This will give you the comfort and space you need. These are the RVs (Recreational Vehicles) you'll see in American movies. They can be further divided into three classes:Class A Motorhome, Class B Motorhome, and Class C Motorhome. The latter looks more like a large bus than a truck. The most common campers you will see on European roads are the Class C Motorhomes.

Enjoy your retirement with your partner while driving around Europe. Get all the comforts that you want. A spacious campervan with a comfortable bed, kitchen and sitting area is a good choice.

Renting vs. Buying a Van in Europe

Do you want to buy a campervan for the purpose of touring Europe? Or should you rent one? It all depends on several factors.

You will rent a campervan if you are only visiting Europe for a few days or a few more months. Renting can be expensive if you plan to rent the van for a longer time, such as six months or one year. If this is the case, renting can be more cost-effective. This car rental search engine will help you find vans for rent.

It's not as simple as renting a campervan. These are the things you need to think about before you decide whether to rent or buy a campervan.

  • You must first have enough money. You won't find a cheap campervan, and you should expect to pay between ten and fifteen thousand euros for one.

  • A van purchase comes with paperwork.

  • The third reason is that buying is sensible, as long you are certain you will use it enough and can return it when you are done.

  • Fourth, the cost of buying a home comes with insurance and repair costs. Keep that in mind.

Renting a van is a great way to get to know VanLife if you are a complete novice. You will get an idea of what type of van you need.

These are the very important steps to know before setting off to a journey across Europe.

And as a final here are some destinations that you might want to visit

 Germany

Germany's highways offer free access, but the majority of the public toilets on the roads are not. The toilets at Sanifair and Seaways will be very clean and cost between 50-70 cents. There are plenty of parking spots and rest stops along the highway. These spots are usually good places to park your van for the night.

Be aware of traffic signs and rules when driving in Germany. For an alcohol or drug test, you can stop at any number of random locations.

Belgium

Except for Liefkenshoektunnel, Antwerp's main road, Belgium is completely toll-free. Most signs are in the local language. Did you know that 60% of Belgium is Dutch, and 40% French? You will see road signs in French or Dutch, but not often both.

The Netherlands

The roads in the Netherlands are excellent, but there is often congestion near beaches like Zandvoort. Always give priority to cyclists when driving through towns or cities with smaller roads. Look for signs that say "P+R" (Park and Ride). This will help you find affordable parking close to cities. This is where you can park your vehicle and take public transportation to get into the city. If you plan to include a busy city such as Amsterdam, this is the place you should park your van and use public transport to get into Amsterdam.

France

France is the most expensive country to travel through. You can find good rest stops along the highway that offers free toilets. France is one of few countries that has a tiny WC for toddlers. It was so cute and thoughtful.

You will be issued an entry ticket at the toll booth when you enter the highway. This will be presented at the exit toll stations and you will need to pay. You will be charged the longest distance if you lose your entry ticket. Make sure you keep it safe.
